Description

Ordinary behaviour

  1. Set preferences to Vector 2022 skin
  2. Open a desktop browser, for example Chrome, and maximize the window
  3. Observe that the Search widget is fully exposed, with text box and Search button controls.
  4. Press Shift+Alt+F
  5. Caret should jump to the Search Bar and permit text entry for searching the Wiki.

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  1. Set preferences to Vector 2022 skin
  2. Open a browser, for example Chrome, and narrow the window until the Search Bar collapses into only the magnifying glass button
  3. Observe that the complete Search widget is hidden with no text entry.
  4. Press Shift+Alt+F
  5. Nothing happens, and Search Bar is not activated.
  6. Tap or click the magnifying glass instead
  7. Observe that the Search Bar text entry box opens with caret focus, and now permits keyboard entry and searching.

What should happen

  • The keyboard shortcut should not fail but have the same function, even when Search Bar is hidden.
  • Keyboard shortcut Shift+Alt+F should have the same effect as tapping the magnifying glass: open text box and permit text entry.

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):

  • Cross-browser skin/layout: reproduced in current Chrome and Edge browsers, June 2024
