Support language switching within places
Open, LowPublic

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
-Language Change in "Places" Tab: Ability to change the language of the articles shown on the map directly within the "Places" tab.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
-Language Change: I want to access information about points of interest in different languages, especially if the article is not available in my native language. Changing the language in the app settings does not affect the "Places" tab, requiring a change in the main app language, which is inconvenient.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
-Language Change: Provides me with the flexibility to view information in multiple languages without changing the main app language, enhancing my user experience and accessibility.

Thank you for this suggestion! The Android App currently supports language switching from within Places, in the search bar. However you can only view the places feature for one language at a time.

This is a good idea to allow multiple languages for Places within the iOS app (perhaps all of your app's languages?) to display in places, however it would be a larger project requiring designs first. We'd need to account for different situations, such as when there are multiple language versions for something near you.

We do not currently have plans to improve the Places during this coming year, but we will keep this ticket in the Product Backlog to consider for future work.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify: the idea was to do something similar to what's done in the Android app, with language switching directly in the "Places" tab. So there would only be one displayed language at the time. This would be much more convenient than the current version because we would not need to change the main app language.

I see, thank you for clarifying!

We are planning to refresh the App's overall navigation in the coming year: T373712, and feedback like this is invaluable during this process. One proposed change is moving the "Languages" menu into a more convenient location, accessible from all screens. Please let us know if you would like to user test the updated navigation once it's available.

Yes, please, feel free to send me updated versions. :)
