PD-US on English Wikisource is equivalent on Commons to PD-US-expired when no death year is provided, and PD-old-auto-expired when a death year is provided. Currently, if a file is tagged with PD-US on enWS, it continues to be tagged with PD-US when imported to Commons. This requires users to manually change the template after importing to add the specific rationale for why the work is PD in the US, and when the template invocation included a death year on WS, this change is often required in order to explain why the work is PD in its home country.
It would be good if FileImporter could handle this automatically, so it would be easier to tag files with the specific relevant license and comply with Commons's licensing policy. I expect that other projects would also benefit from this kind of license mapping, but enWS is the project I'm most familiar with and thus the project I'm making this request about.
Specifically, I propose that {{PD-US|year}}, {{PD-US|1=year}}, and {{PD-US|deathyear=year}} on enWS be mapped to {{PD-old-auto-expired|deathyear=year}} on Commons, and {{PD-US}} on enWS be mapped to {{PD-US-expired}} on Commons. (This is ignoring the parameters 2/deathyear and film, which are not currently supported on Commons. I think it would be fine either to port them over or to ignore them.)
