2024 week 41 1.43-wmf.26 Changes wmf/1.43.0-wmf.26

This MediaWiki Train Deployment is scheduled for the week of Monday, October 7th:

Monday October 7thTuesday, October 8thWednesday, October 9thThursday, October 10thFriday
Backports only.Branch wmf.26 and deploy to Group 0 Wikis.Deploy wmf.26 to Group 1 Wikis.Deploy wmf.26 to all Wikis.No deployments on fridays

How this works

  • Any serious bugs affecting wmf.26 should be added as subtasks beneath this one.
  • Any open subtask(s) block the train from moving forward. This means no further deployments until the blockers are resolved.
  • If something is serious enough to warrant a rollback then you should bring it to the attention of deployers on the #wikimedia-operations IRC channel.
  • If you have a risky change in this week's train add a comment to this task using the Risky patch template
  • For more info about deployment blockers, see Holding the train.

FYI I have a real-life collision around Oct08 08:00UTC (window to deploy to group0) so @jnuche was kind enough to offer help (thanks!).
And in case something gets in the way, I'll use the second window at 18:00UTC to deploy to group0.

I'm cautiously adding T376814 as a blocker. This is pretty visible and impactful to our mobile editors and if we can roll it back we should given the task that introduced the issue ( T375975) is marked as low priority. @Ladsgroup @Ebrahim are there any issues with rolling back https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/1079044 ?

If we can't roll back we should look to get a fix out Thursday.

I'd wait a bit until @Ebrahim can see the issue and might be able to find a solution quickly. If it's not possible, we can merge the revert on the deployment branch (not master) and continue working on it until next week. But hopefully the fix is quick. I'm traveling right now but I will see if I can backport the fix.

I reproduced the issue on testwiki. As markup there are too different from regular use and the page is doing things too differently I think the revert is inevitable albeit being painful.
