Automatic handling of references
Open, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
Often times book use some sort of references in the format of "text¹", "text1)" or "text¹)" and then the text of the reference at the bottom of the page "1) reference", which I think might be handled automatically. It would be nice to have Wikimedia OCR automatically put <ref></ref> with the recognized text where it should be put in the main text.

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
Speeding up proofreading of literature with a lot of references

Hi @Bicolino34

I'm interested to work on this task. Is it still open?

@Dumbledore: I don't think the task author necessarily knows. See the task status below the task title and https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/New_Developers#Communication_tips - Thanks.
