Quarry shows error: This web service cannot be reached
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • I try to run my queries on Quarry like I do every day.

What happens?:
I get an error screen that has the Wikimedia Cloud Services logo and the text:

*Error
*This web service cannot be reached. Please contact a maintainer of this project.

*Maintainers can find troubleshooting instructions from our documentation on Wikitech.

It's been like this for hours and I'm surprised not to see an open ticket as a lot of editors use Quarry. I posted about it at the English Wikipedia Village Pump Technical board but no one had any ideas. I was referred to a Quarry ticket about logging in but it was from the spring.

What should have happened instead?:
I should have received my query reports like I do 99.99% of the time.

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):
I use Chrome

Looks like k8s is having trouble with garbage collection

Quarry is working again. Though I didn't have time to investigate what is happening so this may happen again. Opening T375997 to investigate the underlying issue.

Indeed, the same error is showing up at Quarry again right now.

Seems to be running for me. I'm not seeing the same garbage collection issue. Did the issue seem to persist for a sizable time?

And now Quarry is working again.
