Create QW2025 Meta-Wiki page
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This task involves creating a simple page on Meta-Wiki for QW2025. The page should provide a brief overview of the event and its objectives.

  1. Learn About Meta-Wiki:
    • If you're new to Meta-Wiki, read about its purpose and structure here:
      • About Meta-Wiki (Meta-Wiki is the central hub for coordination, documentation, and discussion across Wikimedia projects).
  1. Explore QW2023 as a Model:
    • Review the QW2023 Meta-Wiki page to understand the layout and content structure typically used for Queering Wikipedia events. The page should include:
      • A brief introduction to QW2025.
      • Event goals and purpose (building on inclusivity, accessibility, and FLOSS).
      • Any relevant dates or key information.
      • Links to related pages or resources.
  1. Create the QW2025 Meta-Wiki Page:
    • Create a new page on Meta-Wiki titled QW2025.
    • Use simple, clear language to describe the purpose of the event, what it aims to achieve, and how it builds on previous editions like QW2023.
    • Provide links to past events (e.g., QW2023) and relevant resources.

Once you’ve completed the page, share the link with the project team here and any documentation you've created.

Event Timeline

Hi, @Andrerodriguex @Aklapper I would like to be assigned this micro-task as it would enable me read more about Wikimedia and the community

Hi and thanks for your interest. Please see the information for participants on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Outreach_programs and read https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/New_Developers#Communication_tips and do not ask to be assigned. Thanks! :)

Oh, I'm sorry. i'll read through now

@Andrerodriguex the meta wiki page is ready
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/QW2025

I would be grateful if you provide me the feedback for any update or error

Added QW2025/Schedule page

I think for this year we should use different logo and theme @Andrerodriguex ?

And please provide me the event dates so that I can update them

Hello, @Jatinder190124, I only discovered that there were other years (other than 2023) after going through your file - thank you for that. I think we should include the anonymity 2022 (if I remember correctly) adopted.

As a woman in tech, I saw fellow women having discussion about how they're treated in tech - on reddit - and I think it would be cool to have this in the event. Like a collaboration/participation thingy where everyone would discuss how their workplace is treating them and build a response. Just like how a woman decided to build a publication that tells everything women in tech go through

What do you think about this suggestion

We could have it as a part of the event

@Toluwani7 good idea we can propose this one to the team

Hi @Jatinder190124. Thanks for your contribution. Although it is right, it could be less copy and paste from the 2023 edition. In regards to that, please remove links to Volunteer info, Nodes and such, as we don't have those pages for 2025 yet. Also take off the schedule and the contact e-mail.

That is a nice idea, @Toluwani7! We tried to have something along those lines in last year's edition but it could definitely be improved. It could be discussed in months leading up to the conference, too.

Good edits!

Some changes to be done by whomever sees this first: The promotion page is still there. Also, please make changes on the FLOSS usage part. Right now it could be misleading people to think that we will exclusively use open source software, which may not be the case.

Last but not least, read the Nodes page for 2023 and add a brief part on the 2025 page reflecting on the iniciative's success and our desire to expand this as one of the goals for next year's edition.

Hi @Andrerodriguex
Saw your comment so I made the changes. I'd like any feedbacks. thanks!

I will work on this. This is a place holder for my submission.

Hi @Andrerodriguex here is a link tO my QW2025 meta-wiki page. Kindly advise if i should make any adjustments. TIA!

Good job everyone, this task is now resolved.

@Rumble2000 the excerpt about nodes is good.

@Emceerain although your edit looks fine, the proposal was to add content to the QW2025 meta page, and you added it to the QW2025 category. Please delete the content you added there. If you still want to collaborate on this task, go to the event's page and make improvements if you feel there's any to do (I would suggest removing "the platform that hosts Wikipedia and other related projects" on the first paragraph, as most of the attendees know that).

Thank you once again for all of your contributions.

@Andrerodriguex Okay will do and yes I'd love to still collaborate on this task!

Hi @Andrerodriguex I made the edit you suggested. I do feel like there could be improvements, working on then right now. Will check in when completed!

hi @Zblace @Andrerodriguex I updated the content for the QW2025 page
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=QW2025

hi @Andrerodriguex I added a node page for the QW2025 event
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/QW2025/Nodes

And I linked this email with it - qw2025@wmlgbt.org.
Can you please verify and provide me the correct email id for this

And Also I created nodes guidelines and Friendly_Space for QW2025 page as well.

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/QW2025/Nodes/Guidelines

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/QW2025/Friendly_Space

Next I am planning to add the translations for all the pages
@Zblace @Aklapper @Andrerodriguex

Hi @Jatinder190124 just checked out the friendly space page you did. Mind if i chip in with some minor edits for readability? @Andrerodriguex can i go ahead?

@Emceerain Go Ahead and do whatever that makes the page aesthetic.

Next I am planning to add the translations for all the pages

Hi, please do not ping lots of people for no good reason. Thanks a lot!
