Multiple OpenRefine instances from paws fail to edit wikidata
Open, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

I'm not sure if this should be addressed at Wikidata or Paws level. During a training session, we tried to use OpenRefine from paws to upload data to wikidata and failed. Estimate timestamp: ~17.50 EEST on 2024-10-25

My assumption is that it was some kind of flood protection since all the edits came from the wmf cloud infrastructure. While this makes sense for the newbies accounts, my account should have been able to finish the upload - i had 78 edits to make and it stopped at 82%.

Maybe the paws IP can be whitelisted?

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • create multiple accounts on wikidata (we had 5)
  • login to https://hub-paws.wmfcloud.org with each account
  • open OpenRefine and prepare a wikidata commit
  • login to Wikidata from OpenRefine using the same accounts
  • try to launch the updates at the same time

What happens?:
The uploads fail at various percentages

What should have happened instead?:
All the data should be uploaded, at leaat for non newbies.

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
