Intermittent failure of FlickreviewR 2 bot
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

What happens?:

  • The bot frequently return failed license review result as "size_not_found". Usually this should only happen when someone uploads a cropped down version.
    • An example can be found at here: it took 7 repeated attempt to finally pass the file's review.
  • Repeatedly requesting the bot to review through {{Flickrreview}} usually fails, but sometimes it might pass after many reviews.
  • It appears that the problem happens intermittently: often the bot may pass a few files, then followed by a swath of failed reviews, and so on.

What should have happened instead?:
As long as the size and file type are exact, The photograph should be reviewed quickly.

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):

  • The bot owner was not active for the past month, so we can't directly ask for assistance.
  • MGA73 has acted by instructing MGA73bot2 to made automatic new review requests.
  • According to Zhuyifei1999 (on an inactive bot nomination on Chinese Wikipedia), the was a bug in YiFeiBot (FlickreviewR 2 is run on ToolForge as YiFeiBot) in which it was later fixed. I am not sure whether this is related.

Event Timeline

I've added all the other users with access to the project per https://toolsadmin.wikimedia.org/tools/id/yifeibot, It looks like @zhuyifei1999 was last active less than a month ago (https://guc.toolforge.org/?by=date&user=Zhuyifei1999)

There isn't much actionable on this task, unless you can make contact with the bot owner, or one of the other users with access are will to look and try resolve the issue.

Unfournately the tool doesn't have a toolinfo setup to document the best location for task tracking.

If all else fails, Someone could potentially look at Abandoned tool policy process.

I got an email from 廣九直通車 about this. I'll take a look later today or tomorrow.

I am not sure whether this is related.

That one is not related. It was specific with retrieving the list of global bot wikis.

Caused by Flickr adding a rate limit. Tracked on-wiki: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Village_pump/Technical&oldid=957845988#User:FlickreviewR_2_appears_to_be_broken

Workarounded by ignoring problematic images (till later retry) + throttling + a URL rewrite to "download" URLs.
