User story & summary:

As a reader on desktop, I want to understand why this text is highlighted when I move my cursor over it, so that I can decide if I want to interact with it.

Background & research:

On desktop, many users might notice Structured Task highlights without clicking on them. Ideally, these users can quickly learn more about the highlight’s purpose to decide if they want to explore further.

Open Questions:

Should we also support a similar focus state on Minerva for desktop?

Surfacing "Add a link" Figma design specs

Acceptance Criteria:

Given I'm a newcomer reading an article with a Structured Task suggestion,
When I move my cursor over the highlighted text,
Then I should see a brief explanation of why the text is highlighted.

@JFernandez-WMF discussed this with other designers, and there was the suggestion to wait on experiment data before making a decision about this task. For example, should this be a tooltip or hover state or should we consider a Guided Tour to help bring attention to the suggestion. Let's get initial data before making a decision!
