Enable Translate extension on Office Wiki to assist with drafting text for use elsewhere
Open, MediumPublic

Description

This will assist with drafting pages on Office Wiki for eventual use on Meta-Wiki or other wikis with utilize the Translate extension. Currently, these tags have to be removed during drafting and this can sometimes cause problems or delays when implementing draft content on destination wiki.

MoveComms will work to produce documentation/messages on Office Wiki to help clarify intention is to use extension for drafting and not evergreen translating of Office Wiki content (at this time anyway).

Note: We want wmgUseTranslationMemory set to false - see semi-related old task about collab-wiki T313241 for more info on why

  • Set wmgUseTranslationMemory to false
  • Add to translate dblist
  • ? Set wmgTranslateUseMinT to true

Hi @Varnent! Just looking through the Wikimedia-Site-requests backlog & I just want to check if this is something that's still wanted, given it's been a bit of time. If so, I assume that this is something that'd need to be lead by the WMF/WMF staff (rather than volunteers), given (for one reason) that volunteers presumably wouldn't be able to access officewiki to test out any patches/check that things are working okay.
