@ItamarWMDE Hi, could you please implement this task, or maybe mentor someone from Wikimedia Taiwan to implement this task? Thank you.

Change #1137807 had a related patch set uploaded (by Raimond Spekking; author: Raimond Spekking):

[mediawiki/extensions/cldr@master] Add Tsou (tsu), not part of CLDR

@ItamarWMDE Hi, could you please check another Formosan languages task also: T381137, T381060, T381061, T380975 and T387341? Thank you :-)

Hi @S8321414 I'm sorry but I'm not in the Wikidata team anymore. please feel free to reach out to @karapayneWMDE or @Lydia_Pintscher for tasks that require integrating new languages in Wikidata. Wishing you all the best.

OK, thanks for your help.

Hi @karapayneWMDE @Lydia_Pintscher could you please help us (Wikimedia Taiwan and Wikidata Taiwan community) to implement all of these Formosan languages tasks? Thank you :-)

Thank you for tagging this task with good first task for Wikimedia newcomers!

Newcomers often may not be aware of things that may seem obvious to seasoned contributors, so please take a moment to reflect on how this task might look to somebody who has never contributed to Wikimedia projects.

A good first task is a self-contained, non-controversial task with a clear approach. It should be well-described with pointers to help a completely new contributor, for example it should clearly point to the codebase URL and provide clear steps to help a contributor get set up for success. We've included some guidelines at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/good_first_task/ !

Thank you for helping us drive new contributions to our projects <3

Other than the English Wikipedia and this Phabricator task, is there an external source for the "Cou" autonym? For example, a dictionary or another website?

Ethnologue lists "Cou" as "Alternate Names", not as autonym. It's quite possible that it's also the autonym, and Ethnologue just failed to list it as such, but I'd love to see it written explicitly somewhere, if possible.

@Amire80 I've sent a wiki email to the requester @Allenwang6212a. I am having a hard time finding sources for the autonym. Wikipedia article mentions Cou but citation is needed.

@Winston_Sung could you point to relevant information in the documents you have shared? TY!

In Formosan languages, the language autonym usually be the same word of "people"/"human" in the language, so:

"Cou": "人"

@Winston_Sung Okay! But in the resource you shared, could you clarify which page shows Cou as the autonym for Tsou?

Both on page 4 of the PDF files (but one of the footer labeled as 3).

Just discovered it should be all lowercase.

Appears to be lowercase:

See PDF file page 173.

(The capitalized Cou in PDF page 175 is in German/Deutsch)

"Deploy ULS to translatewiki" was a little bit unclear to us. Please request on the translatewiki support page if the language needs to be added to translatewiki and create a separate task. This task looks complete for now
