Remove non-existing $CHANGEDORCREATED from numerous on-wiki Enotif_body message overrides
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Parameter $CHANGEDORCREATED was deprecated in enotif_body since MediaWiki 1.21 and got removed in MediaWiki 1.41.

Numerous wikis have not updated their custom on-wiki overwrite, so their MediaWiki change notification emails include a raw variable:

To fix

It needs a global-sysop to edit most of these, and a local admin for the remaining 4.

Options:

  1. Delete the local variant page. It will then use the default translation from translatewiki (which may need updating or creation).
  2. Simply update the local variant, to remove the $CHANGEDORCREATED string and replace it with plain text.

@Quiddity: Just wondering if you might have any general idea or recommendations how to gain some traction on such on-wiki cross-wiki needs-special-permissions tasks, or where to bring this up? (Sorry, you're first person coming to my mind, and I sometimes come across such things - feel free to unsub again :)

(and it only needs a local admin, not an interfaceadmin - interfaceadmin bits are only required for CSS/JS edits)

Of those euwiki, frwiktionary, kawiki, and zh_yuewiki are not GS wikis)

+1 to Pppery's comments.
I've tweaked the Description here with those details, and to use checkboxes in case we want it processed here - alternatively it could be copied across to the Global_sysops/requests page for inline strikethroughs.

Someone just needs to request their help there, and then also contact admins locally at the 4 non-GS wikis.

It might also be good to clarify what the (2?) possible solutions are for each instance. I've edited what I think is correct into the Description here.

Done for all GS wikis except huwikinews since this wiki is closed and cannot be edited.

I've added edit-protected requests at the other 4 talkpages. Thanks all!

Both wikis have several active admins. Apparently nobody is monitoring the editprotected queue there, but the wikis themselves aren't dead.
