What are you trying to accomplish?
Might it be better to keep ordering consistent, but allow to jump immediately to
the earliest edits for a given page?

Currently, there is no fast way to query the creator of an article with an
extensively long history. I just thought that if one can reverse the ordering
of the history, it solves that problem and adds another feature.
"Adding features" is not a goal that should be followed for its own sake; features introduce complexity and bugs.
I can't think of any use for flipping the viewable order around. Skipping directly to the oldest entries sounds useful.

"Status" and "resolution" contradict Brion's statement.
I see a need for *alternative* order at many queries. This (history) is only one
of them.
