I continued mapping out conferences, particularly on CHI:

1. I reached out to the organizers about setting up a booth for Wikimedia Research. The cost is $5,000, and unfortunately, they said they can’t offer a discount. They did mention a press pass option since Wikipedia might qualify as press, though this probably won't be useful.
2. I explored submission options, but all the main tracks have already closed.

However, there are some very interesting workshops happening across the conference and it would be relevant to participate and perhaps even submit something to one of those. I’ve started a very general mapping of the workshops (titles and abstracts here: https://chi2025.acm.org/for-authors/workshops/accepted-workshops/), and synced with Eli who may also attend the conference.
Our plan is for me to continue examining these workshops more in depth next week and then review those together to come up with a game plan for what is relevant.

weekly update:

• I mapped out two relevant conferences for CHI that we could benefit from attending and where we can likely raise awareness about our work. The workshops are Sociotechnical AI Governance and Tools for Thought. I'm coordinating with Eli regarding our attendance and his potential participation in these.
• I began listing universities to contact while in Japan. I listed both relevant departments/labs and Wiki Researchers. I have a couple of ideas for engaging with them and I will sync with Leila on these.
• I explored other conferences that are relevant up until June 2025. WSDM and ICWSM stand out as most relevant in terms of Wiki Research. ECIR could also be relevant if we want to expand to different conferences.

• Eli will be able to attend the weekend before CHI so we will likely try to attend at least one workshop and perhaps set up an engagement that weekend.
• I didn't get to coordinate with Leila this week on the items mentioned above. I will send out an email early next week to get her input on these items.

• I'm awaiting a final confirmation from Springer regarding sharing a booth with them for CHI.

• I have meetings scheduled this week with Eli to coordinate on CHI outreach and with Diego to coordinate on WWW outreach.

I've updated the description of this task to align with the continued work planned for Q4. I am moving this to the next quarterly lane.

• I am working on securing the materials for our booth at CHI. We will have some signage, swag, and informational posters about Wiki Research.
• I am coordinating with several researchers and with Eli on meetings before and during the conference.

  • stickers have been sent out to Eli who will travel with them to Japan
  • Eli and I worked on trivia cards with Q&As about Wiki Research
  • The design team has supported us with 6 informational posters about Wiki Research and the community. Those are still under work and will be finalized soon.

Similar to last week, I continued working and prepping for our exhibitor booth. All materials are now finalized and need to be printed and shipped out.
Additionally, I am organizing a small meetup for Wiki Researchers ahead of the conference. We have 2 confirmed attendees and we are waiting on a few more people.
