I cannot extend article-link previews to full size in most cases because they tend to auto-minimize itself to the default size right after.
I don't know, if this is:
- Just me (I have just switched into Motorola moto g84)
- Or everyone (some bug in Wikipedia App that I have just spotted)
For sure I haven't got that problem with any previous device.
I think that the screen capture that depicts this behaviour is to big (210 MB) to upload here, so I have uploaded it to WeTransfer instead:
This is a free account, so this link will expire in 7 days since creating this ticket, but a reup is possible, if requested.
The screen cast can be hard to understand in first place, because my screen capture software isn't able to capture my finger taps.
But, in general:
- Open any Wikipedia article in mobile Wikipedia App for Android
- Tap any link that has link-preview longer than default size
- Try to use top-center bar of link-preview to extend it to full size
Depending on so-far-unspecified conditions the link-preview overlay will stay in extended height or will return to default height.
As you can see in screen capture, this seems to be totally random:
- I am able to extend the same link-preview in first place, and when trying to extend the very same link-preview in second time, for some reason it auto-minimize itself.
- Number of attempts of extent that are needed before link-preview stays extended varies from 1 to even 6.
- In some rare situations it isn't possible to extend link-preview overlay ever, even after dozens of tries.
I am using Wikipedia Android App 2.7.50514-r-2024-12-11 on board Motorola moto g84 5G (XT2347-2) / Android 14 (kernel version 5.4.274-moto-gc7f89475b621).
