XTools topedits perf issues / 500s

Description

I haven't been able to use the topedits tool in several days, it seems to hang until some time out is reached, and I'm served a 500.
Here's two sample errors from a few minutes ago:

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away
SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1205 Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction

XTools version: 3.20.3-dd4dc54f
