So now it seems like it switches logged in users and anonymous users - if you hide one the other automatically has the alternate option chosen. Therefore, hiding logged in shows anonymous and vice versa.

Yes, it does not work, because from "then hide bots" to "then hide logged in users" the url parameter "hidebots=0" is lost.

I think it's much simpler than above. Any link clicked loses the state of "Show bots" and always switches it to "Hide bots" (unless that was the specific one pressed).
