Expand support for moving archive.org URLs from url to archive-url
Closed, ResolvedPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):

  • Expand support for moving archive.org URLs from url to archive-url T100608 by also updating website parameter if needed

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):

  • In this edit AWB made correct changes. However, it left the parameter website=archive.is

When the website parameter contains the domain name of the archive, could this parameter be changed to the domain of the new url parameter (e.g. nytimes.com) ?

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
*Updating the website parameter improves the information visible to the reader

Event Timeline

rev 12933: remove website when converting URL to archive-url if website is for the archive service.

Given that the referenced URLs could be various sources that may require work/publisher/via/website and the URL could have various minor prefixes to remove (static.site.com), we'll keep it simple and remove the website parameter rather than update it to something that may not be right.

Rjwilmsi claimed this task.
