Exiting the editor designs: Unmoderated user testing
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Background

The majority of new users open an editor on their first day, but about 25% exit without saving an edit. One of Growth’s hypotheses is that newcomers who leave an edit session without saving may be more likely to constructively activate if they receive a supportive message and a clear, attainable next step—such as a Structured Task related to the article they viewed or a Suggested Edit.
Growth’s designer has been working on approaches that aim to provide in-the-moment support, presenting an encouraging prompt suggesting a next step. After receiving feedback from various stakeholders, we’ve decided to test multiple aspects of the designs - visual treatment, copy, moment of the suggestion, etc.

Research goals and questions

How do newcomers experience the prompting of a suggestion after exiting the editor?
How does the visual treatment of the popup influence the decision of whether to accept the suggestion?
How does the copy of the popup influence the decision to accept the suggestion?
Identify areas that are clear and understandable and potential areas of improvement.

Acceptance criteria
