Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
When entering something into the search bar at the top of the site, it shows auto-complete results based on file-titles. It's hard to tell just based on the file-title whether it's what you're looking for and also it's just one file. It's much more useful or more commonly what the user is looking for to display the category/ies about the subject. However, those dropdown results often show no category and that even when there is a category that is named exactly like the search phrase. Please make it show more categories – for example by reserving the top spot in the search results or several for the entire dropdown results for category pages.
It took a very long time even as a quite active contributor to Commons for me to learn that cat:search phrasecan be used to search just for categories. I'm not even sure that info is on any help page. However, it's extremely useful. In addition to the above, it would be good if there was some kind of tip / tooltip or info-dropdown like "Enter cat:search term to search for categories of files". Maybe that should be a separate issue.
Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
Making searching Commons far more effective and the search bar way more useful.
Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
Make the site much more useful by better enabling people to make use of the many categories and to find what they're looking for.
