Centralize monthly metrics report creation and publication

Description

Problem statement:
Currently the monthly metrics report generation is a manual process and we hoop between many different platforms for creating the report: Gitlab, google slides, google docs, commons, meta, Slack, which is frustrating and time consuming.

Goals:

  • To improve efficiency, we will experiment with the idea of using Quarto to create and publish our reports.
  • Have a centralized location for report creation. We are still expected to use other tools like Superset, Hive, decomp sheet etc. to analyze the metrics.

Deliverable

  • a quarto notebook which has the monthly report format
  • easily readable metrics report (HTML/PDF tbd)

Decided to stick to HTML for a lot of reasons - formatting, ease of sharing publicly etc.
We are ready with a prototype! yayy ! thank you @nshahquinn-wmf for all your support!

  • We have released May, June and July reports on the Analytics reports server
  • drafted communications
  • made code changes to the repo to move to Quarto publishing

Made few more changes to the code per Neil's feedback and committed the changes to a new branch.

Post production: We have 63 unique visitors to the movement metrics folder! And close to 50 who accessed (i.e. read) the current month report.
