Add an end date to Community Updates
Open, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
I would like to be able to set an end date to Community Updates.
After that date has passed:

  1. Newcomers do not see the message anymore
  2. Administrators editing the community updates will see empty fields (i.e. they won’t be pre-filled with the expired ones)

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
On the Italian Wikipedia, I’m currently the only mantainer of Community Updates. It happens often that I don’t remember to delete the message for events that have ended.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
Newcomers won’t be confused to be directed to the page of an already ended event.

Event Timeline

Thanks for the request, I agree this is useful, the team will look into how difficult is to implement. Hiding the update to newcomers after a given date is easy but emptying the fields may be a more tricky. We will reply with possible solutions.

Thank you. Disabling (unchecking) the “enabled” field could also be enough.
