Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

• Have a pending approval from yourself for a group you're the approver for
• Click review request
• Type something in the required comment field and click "Approve"

What happens?:

"500 Internal Server Error - Your request caused an error on the server."

Request is still in pending on https://idm.wikimedia.org/permissions/pending/

What should have happened instead?:

Request gets approved.

I note that prior to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/1134164 I did not see the pending self approval. Now I see it but am unable to approve.
