Dashboard doesn't retain previously selected collections after new selection is made
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Problem statement

When selecting a topic from the "...more" menu after having previously selected a collection, the dashboard completely removes the previously selected collection from view. This creates a disjointed user experience where users lose quick access to their recent selections.

Steps to reproduce
  • Select a collection from the topic menu
  • Return to the dashboard
  • Observe: Dashboard shows [collection] (selected), "For you", and "...more"
  • Tap "...more" and select "For you"
  • Return to dashboard
  • Observe: Dashboard now shows "For you" (selected), "Popular", and "...more"
  • Result: Previously selected collection is no longer visible in the dashboard view
Expected behavior

Dashboard should maintain visibility of recently selected topics/collections to provide quick access to them, even after making new selections.

Potential areas to explore
  • How might we improve access to recently selected collections/topics?
  • Where in the UI would recent selections to be most useful?
    • In the suggestions list on the dashboard
    • As a dedicated "Recent" section in the filter menu
    • Surfaced in search when input focus enters the search field

Need more details about how many and where should recent selection be presented.
