Mentioned at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Suggestions_for_extensions_to_be_integrated#Chameleon

Chameleon skin is a twitter boostrap based skin that can very easily be configured. Many third-party MW installations use it. Often mobile/desktop versions are not wanted, but a responsive design. Chameleon has a responsive design based on the popular Twitter bootstrap and is actively maintained. --Krabina (talk) 08:41, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Its not written down anywhere I can find, but I'm pretty sure bundled extensions all need to be hosted on gerrit, and this is hosted on github - Oppose Oppose as long as its on github --DannyS712 (talk) 17:16, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
Support If you want your wikis to look like a modern website you have to use Chameleon. --Stefahn (talk) 20:30, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

The maintaining team of the skin will need to agree to move over to gerrit instead of github at a minimum

Aklapper raised the priority of this task from Medium to Needs Triage.

Please do not set priorities unless you actually plan to work on something.
Also, no.

Reopen as stalled since there is at least some sort of consensus to do so as described in task description, but it can not be done yet until skin is moved to Gerrit.

I am very very hesitant to add more skins by default after Timeless became quickly unmaintained after tarball inclusion (which is of course unrelated to Chameleon which might be a great skin). The number of skins should instead be reduced to decrease long-term maintenance burden. This is only my personal opinion.
