Editing toolbar missing in editing mode on Samsung Galaxy S25
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • Use Wikipedia Android app version 2.7.50524-r-2025-03-04

*Device: Samsung Galaxy S25+ (SM-S936U), Android SDK 35
*Tap “Edit” on any article to enter editing mode

What happens?:

-The standard Samsung virtual keyboard appears with Samsung-specific toolbar (AI, emoji, clipboard, etc.)
-The Wikipedia app-specific editing toolbar (with buttons for internal links, templates, references, and link preview) does not appear
-User has checked that the editing toolbar is enabled in Special:Preferences

What should have happened instead?:
The Wikipedia editing toolbar should appear above the keyboard as it did on older devices (e.g., Samsung Galaxy A52), making editing faster and easier

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
Wikipedia Android App: 2.7.50524-r-2025-03-04

Android SDK: 35
Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):
User confirmed that this behavior changed after upgrading phones

Editing toolbar used to appear automatically without needing changes to preferences

Screen recording provided by user shows the keyboard and Samsung toolbar, but no Wikipedia editing toolbar

This might be affected by the Samsung Keyboard or changes in newer Android versions
