The Content Audit checklist contains some instructions that may be too complex or too difficult for beginning technical writers. This task aligns with parallel work to refine our understanding of what makes a good first task (T391606), and what types of tech docs improvements can be made via instructions, like in a checklist, vs. what is too contextual or requires professional expertise.
Work to do:
- Talk to doc mentors, and review content created by new contributors during WMA Hackathon to identify recurring challenges or areas of confusion.
- Review the Content Audit checklist at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Documentation/Toolkit/Content_audit
- Remove or revise checklist content that may be too difficult or advanced for new contributors.
- Get feedback from new contributors about the checklist.
- Revise the page or propose changes for review by the Tech Docs team.
