[Roblox] Increase map difficulty

Description

As a user, I want to experience a fun and challenging level of difficulty while playing, so that I can maximize my enjoyment of the game.

Background

  1. As a play towards engagement time and retention, we aim to increase the level of difficulty of maps.
  2. This marks the end of all Roblox work--any further work will need a strong case.

Refinement questions

  1. What level of work would we anticipate for this task?
  2. Does the complexity of this task change depending on if we keep some game modes (ex. Zen and classic) at the same difficulty and make others (ex. Hard) more difficult?
  3. There was work done towards the earlier end of this experiment to ensure there was an "end." Could a version be removing that?

  • now we "always give you a door that will get you closer"
  • could choose harder start/stop pairings (no map generation)
  • giving worse/more tricky options
  • red herring door: generate some percent of the time, don't generate if you're super off
  • limit: maps must be predefined since we're not generating on the fly
  • try to figure out what current difficulty is (best path distance), then decide what we should do
  • the best door is always an option
