Background
The Collection extension has been degrading over time. Functionality is reduced and broken and we have been unable to contact PediaPress who provide book printing of articles. In a bright future, the reading list extension could have enhancements that would allow us to formally sunset the Collection extension.
This ticket and its subtickets detail how that could happen.
User story
As an existing books user I want to continue using books in a better supported way.
Requirements
- Readers without accounts can create reading lists that can be converted to books
- Reading lists can be sorted T389492: Reading lists should be sortable
- Reading lists can be sorted by the user.
- It is possible to request a printed book from an print-on-demand partner using a reading list
- Redirects from Collection extension exist to the new functionality
- The Collection extension is uninstalled from Wikimedia production
- The Collection extension code repository is archived.
