The Growth team is investigating the account creation funnel, and is wondering how the Apps' funnel performs with T394744: Instrument account creation funnel (analytics for Special:CreateAccount){

start = impressions of the "Create an account" form
success = accounts successfully created
error = user was shown an error task

iOS

start = clicks on "Create an account" from the log-in form
success = accounts successfully created
impressions of the log-in and create an account form are not consistently tracked

Success rate baselines - Summary from analysis

Android:

Flow: Single entry point for "Log in / join Wikipedia" in More > Create an account form with log in link
- Captcha is on second step
18% success rate (Accounts created / impressions of create an account form) - average of daily rate from Feb 21, 2025 - May 21, 2025
- It makes sense this is lower than iOS, because it includes all the people who leave to "log in", or bounce away since the Create an account form is the first thing they see

iOS

Flow: Single entry point for "Log in / join Wikipedia" in Profile > Log in form > Create an account link > Create an account form

47% success rate (Accounts created / Clicks to Create an account from the log-in screen) - average of daily rate from Feb 21, 2025 - May 21, 2025
- It makes sense that this is higher than Android, because it only includes people who have expressed an intent to create an account by clicking "Create an account" on the log-in screen
