Participants Mistook "Suggested Functions" for the Full List.
Participants had difficulty locating the specific function they needed. A common behavior was to focus solely on the "Suggested functions" list, assuming it was exhaustive and not immediately thinking to use the search bar.
Recommendation
Goal: Ensure users understand that the "Suggested functions" list is not exhaustive and are encouraged to use the search feature to find additional functions.
Ideas:
Make the search field more prominent. Focus on the search field by default.
Provide clearer visual cues that the "Suggested functions" list is not exhaustive and that search is available.
Make the suggested functions less prominent
Proposed design:
- Put the search input on focus by default
- Change the search placeholder from 'Search function' to 'Search among 2000+ functions'
- Change color of 'Suggested functions' heading from color-subtle to color-base
