Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

What happens?:
The App crashes

What should have happened instead?:
No crashing

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
Tested on 7.7.6 (5357)
Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):
So far I have reproduced this on Japanese and German articles. I have not seen this on English articles yet. I am looking for additional crashes.

In the case of the example Japanese article, links are crashing when viewing the Japanese article. I do not see crashes on the English version of this article.

Test Steps

Fix can be tested in TestFlight 7.8.1 (5741)

@ABorbaWMF I was able to reproduce this in any talk page link containing non-English characters (like ~ , ç , etc from Portuguese as well). It's happening on our App Store version, just noting this here so we know it wasn't caused by tabs.

I'm opening this one again as I had to revert my fix, adding to the tech debt sprint

Fixed on 7.8.1 (5733)

Tested on iPhone on iOS 26.0 and iPad on iPadOS 18.5. Tested on the article in the description and other pages with non a-z latin characters.
