Description

Moodbar Response Workflow Diagram

This new feature will enable editors to reply to registered users who post article feedback that deserves a response -- such as praise or thanks for a useful suggestion.

It will be based in part on the existing Moodbar Dashboard feature that enables the same functionality for feedback by new editors about their experience on Wikipedia. This feature was developed in part by Benny Situ, who can provide guidance on how to adapt it for Article Feedback.

A workflow diagram is attached to show how the Moodbar Response feature works now. An experienced editor clicks on 'Respond' below a feedback post, which opens a response panel where they can add a comment. They can then preview and send that response to the new editor. By default, this response is posted as a new section on the new editor's talk page. If the new editor has an email address, that response is also emailed to them as a notification.

Our goal for article feedback is to provide the same functionality to any logged-in editor, for any post by a registered user. A second mockup is attached to show how we might integrate this in the feedback page, by showing a 'Reply' icon and text link next to 'Flag as abuse' on the bottom line below any post from a registered user.

This 'Reply' link would not be shown if you are not a logged-in editor, and would not be shown either if the post is from an anonymous, unregistered user.

This has been superseded by the "discuss on user/talk page" feature; I think this is no longer relevant.
