Context

In VE users are recommended to create in-line references when the {{Reflist}} template is used, this is because VE fails to read into list defined references.
We've encountered an issue in VE that degrades the current user experience, see T395083: VE: Cannot render main content from inline main+details when {{reflist}} is used.

Goal

• Find all issues where details is incompatible with {{Reflist}} in VE.
• Get a signal if this bug is solvable, even solve it if easy - T395083: VE: Cannot render main content from inline main+details when {{reflist}} is used.

Incompatible means

• The main bibliographic information is not visible (article, contextItem, refpreviews)
• The reference is not editable (context Item, reference list)
• The numbering is off
• Anything else that is not expected and differs from the experience when using <references />

Issues and next steps

• Main takeaway is that we need to solve T395083: VE: Cannot render main content from inline main+details when {{reflist}} is used first
• Saving back changes would be handled by the work under T389929: Save edited main reference content back to inline main+details that depends on the work done in T397501: [Epic] Fix issues with {{reflist}} or missing references lists and main+details sub-references
