Loose ideas, for now...
We are in search of suggestions that exist at the following intersection:
- Widely consented upon: it is important that we offer suggestions that volunteers on a given wiki would agree are aligned with that project's policies and conventions
- Useful: it is important that we offer suggestions that the experienced volunteers who will be receiving them perceive as useful. //Said in another way: it's important that experienced volunteers feel energized by the suggestion. Ideally, the suggestions we present are edits that volunteers feel compelled to act and might not otherwise have noticed/considered had a suggestion not been offered.
- Demonstrative: ideally, the suggestions we offer are demonstrative of the Edit Check platform to the extent that volunteers are inspired to start generating ideas for additional Checks and suggestions.
- Prevalent: we need to select for suggestions that target edits/content/patterns that are prevalent enough for experienced volunteers to be likely to encounter in the normal course of editing.
- Newcomer potential: we need to select for suggestions that hold the potential of compelling new(er) volunteers to publish constructive edits.
- [potentially] Controversial: it might be useful to identify suggestions that could be seen as controversial...doing so, could cause us to confront new and necessary questions about how we ensure suggestions are effective at both compelling to new(er) volunteers to make constructive edits and relieving patrollers/moderators of the burden they bear for reviewing edits that introduce preventable "damage."
