As discussed during the stand-up call, this Phab ticket is to schedule the email send to donors whose recurring donations failed due to the Gravy bug.
For reference:
• Slack thread: link
• Email content and translations: Google Doc
The donor list has already been shared.
Thanks team!

Since there are only two perhaps it would be easier for you to email them directly.,
@AKanji-WMF, feel free to skip the two donors and send the emails to all others. Thank you!
An update - I sent this mailing to English recurring donors yesterday. I realized I have never sent a non-English civi mail, and so the unsubscribe footers (that are required) would need to be translated. @Eileenmcnaughton is there a workaround for this? Perhaps I could use a TY template instead? I need to send civimails now in Spanish, Portugues and Japanese.
cc: @ppenloglou as we have a slack thread going.
Hi @AKanji-WMF ! I found the sent mailing you prepared named 2025 Q1 Gravy Recurring Fails - EN and created copies to form the following mailings:
Mailings → Draft Mailings:
- 2025 Q1 Gravy Recurring Fails - PT-BR
- 2025 Q1 Gravy Recurring Fails - JA
- 2025 Q1 Gravy Recurring Fails - ES
For each mailing language, I've used the copy Sandra provided above in the Google Doc. I was able to implement a custom footer within the HTML text area by first deselecting the attached footer (screenshot).
Important! Our unsubscribe sentence in English that reads:
If you do not wish to receive any future emails from the Wikimedia Foundation, please click here to unsubscribe.
wasn't available in any of the other languages (pt-br, ja & es). So for the sake of time, I used an online translation tool and placed the translated version in the mailings (whilst hyperlinking the correct phrase for the unsubscribe link). I can't vouch however for the quality of this translation 100%!
I hope this helps Anil! Let me know if you need anything more.
Wow, thanks so much @ppenloglou - that's so helpful. @Eileenmcnaughton had flagged I might have trouble sending Civimail without an unsubscribe footer - do these show up in Civi as unsubscribe footers?
Thanks again. At this stage in the day, I'd like to wait for @TomaszGorski to review.
@ppenloglou / @AKanji-WMF can you share the translations on the fr-dr channel? The translations were provided by DR (@TomaszGorski was not involved). Seilo, Adri and Erich can review their languages respectively and we can get them out on Monday.
No problem @AKanji-WMF. The footers I typed up in the localized mailings will not appear as footer dropdown options. I think Eileen might be referring to Civi requiring the following tokens in any mailing that goes out:
- {domain.address}
- {action.unsubscribeUrl}
If they're not provided in the template, this reminder error will appear (screenshot)
This allows the user to either provide them through a header/footer block that already includes them or, in our case, ensure they’re provided as part of the HTML area of the mailing.
But this was my first CiviMail 😆 I'm sure @Eileenmcnaughton knows better!
@krobinson sure thing, I've started a thread in fundraising-donorrelations with Sandra's GDoc attached.
Hi @AKanji-WMF , DR have kindly provided unsubscribe translations for all three languages. I've gone ahead and those in each mailing respectively.
