Mentorship: the status away back timestamp cannot be updated

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • Navigate to Special:ManageMentors
  • Click on the Edit button for a mentor which is already in status away, eg Away until 12 July 2025
  • In the form, leave the is away checkbox checked and extend the date time to a later date, eg 20 July 2025
  • Submit the form
  • Navigate back to Special:ManageMentors

What happens?:
The date value is not updated in the list or in general having no effect

What should have happened instead?:
The date should be extendable until some limit

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Spotted in testwiki 1.45.0-wmf.9 but probably has been around for some time

This issue was reported in T373143: Special:ManageMentors/edit-mentor - saving valid date for Away status produces incorrect "Your edit was ignored ..." notice, specifically - in this comment: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T373143#10687139.

This task refers to the case of not being able to update the Away status from the initially set date. I've updated the T373143 (the description and added a comment); closing this task as a duplicate.
