VisualEditor deletes list-defined references when editing one of them
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Note that this bug seems similar to T400013: VisualEditor deletes list-defined references if there's a reference containing an ISBN and magic linking is enabled to be fixed with 1170800 . This ticket is for documentation and to give users a point to go to when they see this happening.

Steps to replicate the issue:

  • Create a page with the following Wikitext:
One <ref name="ldrOne" />

Two <ref name="ldrTwo" />

<references>
<ref name="ldrOne">Foo</ref>
<ref name="ldrTwo">Bar</ref>
</references>
  • Open the page in VisualEditor
  • Edit the content of any reference that's in the list
  • Don't edit the content of the other reference
  • Save the page

What happens?:

  • The reference that was not edited got removed

What should have happened instead?:

  • Just the new reference should be updated
