Informal chats with software engineers around wmf
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Speak with a variety of engineers across the org to understand how different teams and/or individuals define what it means for a service/feature to be “production ready”.

What?

We will collect anonymous notes from these conversations and group them into categories. This will help uncover where definitions align, where they diverge, and where gaps exist.

Why?
  • Capture production-readiness criteria that may be outside of the current SRE perspective
  • Generate actionable items (eg tooling improvements) that can be taken forward by both SREs and developers to help tick more boxes on the production readiness checklist. Any items here will be beyond the scope of WE6.2.1
Outcomes
  • Summary of conversations
  • Potential production Checklist items
  • Areas needing attention
