Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):
- Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City
- In the right column, look for the map whose caption says "Location within the state of NewYork". Notice how there's a red pin indicating the precise location of New York City
- Click on the map to enlarge it to full-screen
What happens?:
The map goes full screen, but there's no pin anywhere. The whole purpose of the map was to show the location of a city in particular, but the pin indicating the location, which was visible in the thumbnail, is nowhere to be found in the full-size version. Which makes the entire thing useless and idiotic.
What should have happened instead?:
When seeing the map in full screen, the pin that was visible in the thumbnail should still be visible.
Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia): the one used by WikiPedia right now
Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.): tested on Chrome and Firefox
Here's another page where the same issue can be seen:
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capdepera
Basically every page about a geographical place, where there's a map that shows where that place is, exhibits this issue.
I don't know how I'm supposed to find the right project to tag. I typed "wikimedia" and these are the suggestions:
