Back button no longer work on my mobile device for search

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • On mobile I click search input box and type some text
  • I see some results
  • I click the browser's back button to escape (I click browser back button in the Chrome)

What happens?:

  • Keyboard disappear but not taken to article.

What should have happened instead?:

Used to go to article until last week. Why this change? Is this bug or feature? Very inconvenient. I now must click arrow button. Very confusing. Please fix, sir.

Am using Chrome and mobile phone Samsung Android device.

Which exact website (full URL) is this about? Are you logged in or not?

This occur on every page I visit. I see problem on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and I see problem on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chhaava

I can confirm I am logged out. I create new account to report.

@bwang can you replicate this? I did notice this bug myself a few weeks ago, but I can't any more so maybe you fixed it?

i’m not able to reproduce this bug on my iphone using chrome or safari

We had some issues with the router, so I suspect this might be related to that (T401341). Thanks for reporting! Please reopen if you are still experiencing it.

The specific patch that made the initial search router fix got merged and backported on the 4th, and the followup went out on the next train, so they were all out by the time you were trying to reproduce the issue. It's certainly plausible that those in combination affected it.
