Visual Editor erases the rest of the article when editing only one section with wikicode and then switching editors
Closed, DuplicatePublicBUG REPORT

Description

This bug has been reported by several users on fr.wikipedia.org (on the village pump), with different navigators, when working from a computer (not the mobile version, I don't think)

  • Want to edit a section of an article, click on "edit code" near the relevant title
  • Edit code, no problem. Want to switch from editing with the code to visual editor to use its functionalities (like automatic formatting for references)
  • When in visual editor mode, only the paragraph currently being edited is shown (instead of the whole article as usual)
  • When saving, ONLY the edited paragraph remain, the rest of the article has been erased.

The bug has been mentionned for the first time that I could find there : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Le_Bistro/25_juillet_2025#Bug_%C3%A9diteur? , where one of the contributors said it happened for the first time on July 20.

Thanks for your attention.
