Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:EmailUser
send email routinely

What happens?:
instead of getting the screen indicating successful send of the email, red text appears which reads, "Sendmail exited with non-zero exit code 74"

Google search of this error code says that it indicates a hardware failure

What should have happened instead?:

email should have gone through as normal, this is quite an ordinary action

I believe that these errors are currently being tracked in T383047: Could not send confirmation email: Unknown error in PHP's mail() function. (xref T383047#11066610), but I'll leave it to someone with more knowledge of the situation than me to merge this task if that's the case :) (cc @Tgr)
