For now "site" and "article" are used as placeholders in the input fields when adding a sitelink. This fits for the sitegroup "Wikipedia". But we have to think of correct handling for other groups too.

No.
This is about enabling links to Wikivoyage, Wikisource, etc; not about namespaces.
@tobi: "Site" should always be correct, "Article" is the generic MediaWiki term and should usually apply (though technically, "page" would be more appropriate, and more generic).
For which Wikimedia projects do you see problems here? When and where is this not appropriate?
