Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

Open app in a device with a lot of recent searches

What happens?:

App freezes and crashes *

What should have happened instead?:

Recent searches should load, user should be able to type and search

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Can be tested on 7.8.1 (5969)

No reproducible on 7.8.1 (5969)

Tested on iPhone on iOS 26.0 and iPad on iPadOS 18.5. Tested search from in all places.
