Catalyst backups

Description

Problem We'd like to be able to restore state for:

  1. Catalyst
  2. Patch Demo
  3. K8s environments running atop k8s at the moment of a backup

This task

Determine:

  • specifically, what data is needed to restore to a working state
  • availability needs for each of these—e.g., how often do we need to snapshot, how much downtime is acceptable to restore
  • options for backups for each/all of the components

Re-backlogging this since it's not blocking anything at the moment, we'll revisit later when we have more bandwidth.

We've determined that WMCS snapshots/ceph storage will likely not be the right level of backup for Catalyst. We'll update this task to be an exploration of other options/enumerating needs and building eval criteria.
