Date format changed in last update
Open, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

While not exactly a bug, it's something that needs to be reverted to the previous update, but I didn't know in which section add it, so here it is.

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  1. Generate the whole reference from a link

What happens?:
It adds dates in the different fields if applicable, or at least in the last time visited field. The previous format was year-month-day, but now it appears following the date format of the language of the wiki. For example, in eswiki what previously was 2025-01-01 now it's 1 de enero de 2025.

This is a problem because when translating the article to other languages, or from other languages, previously the wiki read "2025-01-01" and wrote the date like this "1 de enero de 2025" in the article on its own. Now, when translating, we have to translate the field by ourselves, because "1 de enero de 2025" is not translated into the language of the different wikis with the translation tool, it stays in Spanish.

What should have happened instead?:

Software version (on Special:Version page; skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):
