Steps

  1. Visit https://en.wikipedia.beta.wmcloud.org/w/index.php?title=Cats&veaction=edit&ecenable=2
  2. Copy a minimum of ≥50 characters of text from a source that is NOT from Google Docs, Libre Office, Microsoft Word,
  3. Paste the text you copied in "2." into the editing session you opened in "1." using the browser's "Paste and Match Style" option

  1. Verify Paste Check appears

Makes sense -- it's pasted as complete plain text, which we recognize and don't show paste check for. (On the logic that this is how it appears for people who go write something in a regular text editor.)

Per what we discussed offline today, we'll consider revising this logic if/when we come to find – via T400098 – Paste Check is activating in a relatively small proportion of edit sessions.
