Generate email for failed annual recurring gifts
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Similar to monthly recurring failure emails (e.g. T230064: generate generic email for failed recurring donations ) - we need to implement an automated email to annual recurring supporters if their recurring charge fails. @MSuijkerbuijk_WMF to link to copy

Event Timeline

Potentially could use same template with conditionals and appropriate copy changes as per @Ejegg

copy doc here: https://civicrm.wikimedia.org/civicrm/admin/messageTemplates?reset=1#/edit?id=304&lang=en_US&status=draft

Copy looks fine, the only thing is I thought we were moving away from the fake 'Denise Andrews' as signatory. I think it should just be Donor Relations or Wikimedia Fundraising team or something more generic.

Do we have translations of this? How soon can we get this live in English at least?

Thanks!

After we push the publish button the new version should be live immediately. LMK if you want more time to discuss the signatory name.

I would say let's just publish and we can come back around on updating the signature. It feels like we need to get this live. Thanks! Green light from this end.

OK, draft has been set to active. I'll review the activities later today to check that they are going out with the new text.

Good to go with the change in signatory.

We have used

Your friends at the Wikimedia Foundation

OR

Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising Team

Thanks, Elliott!

@AMJohnson let's discuss the signatory with @MSuijkerbuijk_WMF

A signature of "Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising Team" works for me. I can see that's what we're using for a different auto-email.

If possible we should also update the signature for the monthly auto failure email too.

I see on the first line in the copy we also say "This is an automatically generated email from the Wikimedia Foundation Donor Relations team." if we're changing the footer from "Denise Andrews Wikimedia Donor Relations" maybe we should also consider changing that intro bit on both failure emails to "This is an automatically generated email from the Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising Team."

Thank you for publishing the rewrite to annual phrasing.

If someone could please take a look at the donation URL though. It appears to still be set to monthly, not annual.

Annual donor, cid=67250604, received this fresh rewrite and just wrote in to say they were defaulted to monthly giving in the hyperlink and only realised upon receiving the monthly receipt.

Clicking on the hyperlink contained within their annual email confirms this: https://donate.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:LandingPage&uselang=en&utm_medium=civi-mail&utm_source=FY2324_FailedRecur&utm_campaign=FailedRecur&monthly=true

Thank you.

Hiya @KHancock99 and everyone, jumped in here and made some edits based on your comments.

Template: WMF Recurring failure message (English)

  • Changed to "Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising Team" both in the first paragraph and bottom signature.
  • Corrected donation URL. Confirming it works as expected in preview mode with monthly/annual cases.
    • https://donate.wikimedia.org?wmf_medium=civi-mail&wmf_source=FY2526_FailedRecur&wmf_campaign=FailedRecur&frequency={$txtFrequency}
  • Updated token {contact.email} to {contact.email_primary.email} as the former wasn't rendering in the footer.
  • Updated the Text version of the template to match the HTML version in copy & functionality.

Thanks all! I see ^ we did updates in English. Assuming we may be planning to make similar changes in other languages? A French donor in ticket #1819462 / cid 60259866 received a failure email today for their monthly donation and I noticed it's signed Denise Andrews, etc. I feel the signee is less of a priority in changing in all the respective languages quickly as long as if they were an annual donor the copy refers to them as such and links them to the annual form. :)

Hi y'all, I'll take care of the changes in other languages and let you know once done (probably somewhere end of next week). Best, T :)

Hello, I've updated the following languages: Catalan, French (France, Canada), Spanish (Spain, LATAM), Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil), Romanian and Italian. I'll handle the rest next week.

Hi everyone, I've updated all non English templates accordingly. Best, T
